A full apartment, in numbers
| Setup | Cash cost | Per minute | Per hour | Time to pay for itself |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 standard printer | $20,000 | $54.5 | $3,270 | about 6 hours 7 minutes |
| 10 standard printers | $200,000 | $545 | $32,700 | about 6 hours 7 minutes |
| 25 standard printers | $500,000 | $1,364 | $81,800 | about 6 hours 7 minutes |
| 50 standard printers (cap) | $1,000,000 | $2,727 | $163,636 | about 6 hours 7 minutes |
The payback time is identical at every scale, because printers do not get cheaper or faster in bulk — the only thing that changes is how much you lose in a single raid. A full 50-printer apartment is a million dollars of exposure sitting behind one door.
Where to buy money printers
- Drive towards the border until the large tunnel sign appears, then take the turn-off before the checkpoint.
- Talk to the tunnel man NPC and buy tunnel access for $500. This is a one-time purchase.
- Walk in a few seconds and you will reach the printer NPC. Standard printers are $20,000 each; buy as many as you can carry the cash for.
- Leave and rejoin the server immediately. Entering the tunnel can show up on an immigration check even if you crossed legally, and a wanted star is all a police player needs to raid you later.
- Cross the border legally, buy an apartment, and place the printers together inside.
If Border Patrol sends you to secondary inspection instead of waving you through, do not panic and do not run — switch to another server and drive up again. Changing servers does not touch printers you are carrying. See border crossing for what the inspection actually checks.
What printers survive, and what kills them
They survive
- Leaving the game entirely
- Switching to another server
- Being arrested while carrying them in your inventory
They do not survive
- A successful police raid on the apartment they are placed in
That single failure mode is worth reading carefully, because it is entirely avoidable. Police cannot force a door without a warrant, and they cannot get a warrant against a player whose immigration check comes back clean. Cross legally, then behave: no bank, no house burglary, no crimes while the printers are running. The raid page covers the officer's side of that workflow, including what your printers are worth to them (about $10,000 per printer for the officer who confiscates it).
Is the super printer worth 79 Robux?
On rate alone, yes: $12 per cycle against $4 is a straight tripling, so one super printer does the work of three standard ones and takes a single placement slot. Where it stops being obvious is the cap — with 50 slots and enough cash, a full standard build already produces $163,000 an hour, and cash is the thing this game gives you plenty of ways to earn. The super printer is worth Robux if you are early and short on cash, and much less interesting once you can afford to fill an apartment. Cosmetically it is the same machine in different colours, which is the one thing every creator who has bought it agrees on.
Printers as an income source, in context
Printers are the best passive earner in the game and nowhere near the best earner overall. The beach house farm pays about $192,000 for a single shipment plus a crowd bonus, and a shipment cycle runs roughly an hour — so an active farm run beats a full printer apartment while you are at the keyboard, and printers beat everything while you are not. The money methods page puts every earner on the same per-hour scale.
FAQ
How much does a money printer cost in San Diego Border Roleplay?
$20,000 in-game cash from the NPC inside the smuggling tunnel, plus $500 once for tunnel access. The super money printer is a 79 Robux item and pays triple.
Do you keep money printers when you leave the game?
Yes. Quitting, rejoining, switching servers and even being arrested while carrying them all leave your printers intact. Only a successful police raid on your apartment removes them.
How much does a money printer make per hour?
About $3,270 an hour for a standard printer, roughly $9,800 for a super printer, and about $163,000 an hour for a full 50-printer apartment.
