Border Crossing and Secondary Inspection

The crossing, lane by lane

1. Spawn a vehicle and drive to the checkpoint. Everything on the Mexico side — the tunnel, the black market — sits behind you.
2. Primary inspection. A Border Patrol player looks you over. Clean vehicles are stamped through.
3. Scan. Agents have a scanner tool; using it on a civilian is a dedicated action in the game with its own badge, so expect it to be used.
4. Secondary inspection. If they are suspicious, you are sent to the building. You walk through, past the scanners, and out.
5. Result. Clean means you are through and your immigration record stays good. Contraband found means wanted, and an arrest.

What changed on 29 August

Secondary inspection used to be a formality; it is now a physical route. You enter through a door, pass a bank of scanners, and leave through a separate exit. Creator footage from the day of the patch reports that using that exit without being cleared appears to give one wanted star — the shortcut out is not a shortcut. Treat the building as a room you have to finish rather than one you can walk out of.

Why a clean record is worth more than any single run

The immigration check that police run from their tablet reads your crossing history. That single field decides whether a warrant against you is possible, which decides whether your money printers can ever be taken. One successful smuggling run is worth a few thousand. A clean record is worth the entire contents of your apartment — up to $1,000,000 of hardware at the 50-printer cap.

The practical rule that follows: buy printers, rejoin the server, then cross clean. Merely entering the tunnel can register on a later check, so the rejoin is not superstition. If Border Patrol sends you to secondary while you are carrying machines, switch servers and try again — printers in your inventory survive the hop.

Working the line as Border Patrol

The federal side of this page is a job with its own progression. Processing civilians is what ranks you up — there is a badge for 25 processed, and another for reaching Chief of the Line, the top Border Patrol rank, which about 0.25% of players who have ever joined have earned.
